Remember Summer Youth Camp!

Right after my school let out for the summer, our church hosted a youth camp for our youth and for those in two of our sister churches from Reading and Hershey. The whole thing went down on our farm in Millersville. The teaching (by Ken Mellinger, Peter Privitera and C.B. Etter), worship, small group, games, meals, weather...everything was terrific.

I have finally thrown together some video footage from the event. Nothing too fancy, but some fun memories.

August Vacation

I decided to post the video I made of our vacation in the Pocono Mountains in August. It includes music, photos, video and interviews. It is 10 minutes long, so don't click around unless you can stick around.

'Tis the Season

I really like Mike Huckabee. It's not just because he is the Republican candidate that most matches my ideals and political philosophy, but also because he is this kind of guy. Watch...

#11

Well, I just finished my first official footrace. I kept my number tag (#11, hence the title of this post) as a momento. It was the 5 kilometer "Turkey Trot" in Millersville. They are going to send my official finishing time to me via email hopefully this week. I know that my time was just over 26 minutes.

**I got my time emailed to me early this week. My time for the 5 kilometer (3.11 miles) was 26:14. That averages to 8:26 per mile, which is a new record for me. Not too many people there were impressed, though. I came in 51st out of 62 men; 67th out of 104 runners in all.**

I mentioned in this blog several months ago that I started jogging regularly. In the end of July I also began seriously watching my diet. Since then I have lost 38 pounds and improved in my running greatly. A year and a half ago, I ran the CrossWay Mile in 11:29 - and limped for a week and a half later. Last Sunday I ran my usual 3 miles at an average of 8:35. That is not a time for most runners to brag about, but it sure is a great improvement for me. I will give a brief update when I get my official time from today.
